It's difficult to read a newspaper these days without noticing some mention of the weakening US dollar. This situation is old news to many missionaries in Europe that find their buying power steadily shrinking. South America is no exception. In Chile, where I was born, the dollar has lost much ground to the local currency and our missionary friends there have been struggling to cope with their reduced buying power and increased cost of living. Here in Uruguay, according to an article I read this morning, the dollar has lost over 11% of its value against the local currency this year. I knew that the dollar had fallen significantly but I didn't have an exact figure until now. If you read Spanish, you can reference the article
here.
