Flag Day

videoYesterday we observed the local Flag Day holiday. It's commemorated on the day of Uruguay's revolutionary hero's birthday. Jose Artigas is the local version of a George Washington even though he died in exile before the country secured its independence. It also happens to be Grandparents Day. There were various programs and parades scheduled and we attended one program at our kids' school. We always feel a bit bad for our kids since most of the other students are able to have their grandparents in attendance! This video is from one of the parades that came down our street...

Youth activity!

We went to see an international soccer game in Montevideo (2-1/2 hours away) on Saturday. Most of the young people had never been to the stadium before. We froze for most of the game and the Uruguayan team only managed to tie Venezuela at home, but I think we all enjoyed the outing. After the game, our young people and the some of the young people that met up with us at the game had a brief meeting before driving home. By the way, last night the Uruguayan team played against Peru and won six to zero...I guess we went to the wrong game!

Parsonage Update (cont'd)

We didn't get as much accomplished this week as we did last week, but it was still a good effort. Last week, with help from my brother, Danny, and Gabriel we were able to get quite a bit done.

We still have most of the kitchen to complete, one bathroom to finish, all the painting, and plenty of masonry details. We're hoping to be done by month's end, but it's going to be close.
