Shrinking Uruguay
You get the feeling while talking to Uruguayans on the street that the country's traditionally large middle class has been steadily shrinking in recent years. I was reading a newspaper article last week that confirmed my own suspicions. That is, it's not just the middle class that is shrinking--it's the entire population! Because of low birth rates and high emigration, the overall population is on the verge of shrinking! You can read about it in greater detail here.

Winter Youth Retreat
We just got back a couple of hours ago from our fellowship's winter youth retreat. It was a different experience from previous years. Our co-worker, Ricardo Daglio, had been a huge part our youth camps & this was our first camp without him. He moved back to Argentina about four months ago. We missed his musical abilities, his burden for the young people and his lively sense of humor as "master of ceremonies".But the Lord was good to us, and the nearly 70 young people that came were blessed with solid preaching, camaraderie and wholesome fun! We were encouraged to hear of at least four young people making professions of faith.
Four young ladies went to the retreat from our church--at least one of them is unsaved. We trust the Word she heard this week will bear fruit.
